Words.

I posted a piece of writing from the blog End of March a couple months ago. There is such beautiful/creative writing on this site and today I found this and fell in love:

If a heart can be broken and mended a thousands times, it becomes a castle of thread and crystals and glue and glitter. Sticky fingers. There are pieces made of silver and salt mines by the sea, turrets of cotton balls (for when it bleeds) and moats of crumpled letters to lost loves and enemies. I don't always know how to fix it. Keep thread in my pocket and a needle, just in case. Maybe next time I'll use red tape, to make the seams disappear.

Summer Lovin!

I don’t ever fashion blog just because I don’t really know how. But since I am so in love with summer fashion, I’m just going to go for it.

Sundresses are my thing. Probably the only thing I will wear this summer when the weather gets hot. I have quite a collection going (I always tell myself that I need to stop buying clothes until I see something floral…wayyy to many florals in my closet).

My favourite summer dress so far this year is from aerie. It’s SOO comfy, and backless!

I just bought this dress from H&M and the photo doesn’t do it justice! It has a sweetheart neckline and is a bustier. It’s so girly I love it.

When it cools down, my Talula blazer from Aritzia goes with all my dresses:

I wear my moccasins everywhere because they go with EVERYTHING but with dresses I like to change it up sometimes with my oxfords from River Island.

I don’t wear toooo much make-up, especially in the summer but I’ve been using the Annabelle gold shimmery liquid liner and I love it! It’s all sparkly and wonderful and looks a lot lighter than kohl liner.

My next purchase is going to be these:

Ever since grade 8, I successfully ditched the awkward-teenage-nerd-why aren’t the boys looking at me??-girl by wearing contacts. But I really love the whole prep-school look and these are really classy on!

Defining Moments to Remember our Youth.

A "found poem"

Basic pleasures, minor satisfactions
will remain unchanged should tomorrow arrive
but for now
a sense of invulnerability
will send us packing
while we try to define these last moments,
create permanent signs that we were here,
we had a childhood back in the day;

that we saw
the pileup of a passenger train,
backhoes and cranes

felt October humidity
and stood in the heart-red tower lighthouse
that was once as bright as the amber pine
and the sunny spot we used to lay;

that we watched the elk herd and chopped wood,
built fire
and briefly chucked rocks into the outcrop
of spruce trees.

How nice it is to imagine
that we will forever be young.

In with the Old.

I was looking through my Flickr page simply because I had not updated it in forever. Photographs are a funny thing, for me at least, because they seem to be a reminder of many things; beautiful moments, distinct feelings at precise moments in time, wonderful people, exotic places. And yet, photographs always kind of sit there in albums or in a harddrive (unless you’re Henri Cartier Bresson or Annie Leibovitz…). It seems kind of a waste doesn’t it? I have a vision of having my own place with huge white walls, covered in black picture frames filled with photographs of moments that are to special to be looked at only occasionally (one day). I took a moment tonight to look back at the many images I have stored on my page and was overwhelmed at all the beauty that I had regrettably forgotten witnessing. Here are some of my favourites:

My Favourite Things of Last Week.

A heart shaped cake for mother's day (made by Lo aka the world's next best baker), love birds at dusk, my cosy room, chocolate chip "A" shaped pancakes (also made by Lo...best sister ever?), fish tail braids, and a back to school photo (I was soooo excited for the first day of my summer courses so Lo thought it was crucial to capture the moment and I felt five again. I love school, I'm a nerd, it's okay). I am loving summer 2011 so far and it technically hasn't even begun. So happy right now.
